Factoids

Episode 4

1.) The cold open was written based off a real horse mask that Zach Stasz used as a prop in a play he directed.
2.) Lighting for the cold open was provided by film lights, not the actual bathroom light. In order for the characters to turn the lights on and off, it had to be timed perfectly with the gaffer, Garrett McMahon, turning on and off the film lights.
3.) The person on Joe Lankheet's shirt in this episode is president Martin Van Buren.
4.) The beginning of the episode, where Crantz tries to lick his elbow, was entirely improv.
5.) This was the first episode filmed after a month and a half hiatus due to scheduling conflicts.
6.) Zach Stasz purchased the shirt he's wearing the morning before the shoot at Goodwill. It's a classic Crantz shirt.
7.) The bedroom scene was filmed in Ben Leasure's actual room. If you look carefully, you can see a picture of Ben and his niece, Dorothy, on the wall.
8.) Zach Stasz, doing some real method work, wrote up an entire roommate contract in the exact style Crantz would have done. You never actually see what he wrote in the episode. Zach just did it for fun.
9.) The whole bit with Louie and Crantz writing the proposal was entirely improv.

Episode 3

1.) This episode features actor Michael Jefferson, who has acted along side Ben Leasure in numerous other projects.
2.) Some of you may recognize the cold open in this episode--it was the official trailer for the season.
3.) The moment in the cold open when Donald says "it's locked" and Louie's reaction was entirely improv.
4.) The tuxedo Michael is wearing belongs to Zach Stasz.
5.) How Steve the Butler exits each scene was the idea of Michael Jefferson.
6.) Also, the entire ending of the kitchen scene, where he offers Ben a drink, was Michael's idea.
7.) One of Crantz's many drinks, the "Tijuana Wormhole," was made up by writer Joe Lankheet. It's suppose to be tequila and pickle juice, but for the purposes of the episode, it was made with Lemon-Lime Gatorade and a pickle.
8.) The tray that Steve the Butler carries was made out of tin foil.
9.) Throwing the tray at the end of the episode was Michael's idea. You're starting to see how much Michael contributed to this episode.
10.) Crantz receives a Rosewater Ricky at the end of the episode. This is a real drink, but we just threw a bunch of stuff together, including a carrot, which is not in the real drink. It was Zach's idea to try to awkwardly eat the carrot at the end.

Episode 2

1.) This episode features actress Kyla Schoer. Kyla and Joe Lankheet worked together on an off-Broadway children’s show called “Pinkalicious.”
2.) The two date scenes were filmed at Dixon Place Theater and Theatre Row Studios. Joe Lankheet interned at Dixon Place Theater, and currently works at Theatre Row Studios.
3.) During Louie’s date scene, Joe Lankheet had to continuingly eat a salad, then spit it out on his plate. After several takes, he often was eating the same pieces of salad he spit out in the previous take.
4.) Much of the food being eaten by Louie in his date scene was left over food used to feed the crew on the shoot the day before.
5.) Louie’s date scene was the only scene to use real extras. The extras in Donald’s date scene were actually crew members.
6.) The waiter bringing the bill at the end of the scene was Dan Stebbins, one of the gaffers.
7.) During Donald’s date scene, each actor’s champagne glasses needed to be refilled with ginger ale after each take to replicate the look of champagne. Zach Stasz (Crantz) was in charge of refilling the glasses, which earned him the nickname “ginger boy.”
8.) Every line after Donald runs away from Sherry is completely improvised, and was different each take.
9.) After filming his date scene, Ben Leasure had to go directly to another shoot that filmed until 6:00AM the next morning, followed by a 10:00AM shoot. Fucking trooper.
10.) The final date scene between Crantz and Sherry was filmed outside a park in Washington Heights. Filming had to be stopped frequently to deal with noisy children.
11.) In Crantz’s date scene, he was required to awkwardly kiss Sherry by basically sucking on her face. Kyla Schoer (Sherry) claimed she never breaks during filming, but did several times during the final kiss scene.
12.) When Louie tells Donald they will be sleeping in the same bed, the line “I’m naked” was improvised by Ben Leasure.
13.) At one point, Louie carries a cat out of the scene. Joe’s cat, Meowsy, randomly jumped on the couch during filming, and Joe just rolled with it.

Episode 1

1.) This episode, as well as every episode after, was filmed in the actual apartment of all 3 actors.
2.) The walls were originally white, but were painted blue to look better on camera. Lindsey, our producer, picked the color as 2/3 of the cast are colorblind.
3.) The sound effect of Louie and Donald's grandmother talking on the phone was actually voiced by Joe Lankheet.
4.) The donut on the table next to Louie is an actual half-eaten donut of one of the crew members. We left it because it was funny set decoration.
5.) The last scene was actually filmed first, and is the only scene with Zach Stasz in it. He was wrapped after the first hour of filming.
6.) Donald's room in the show is actually Zach's room in real life. It's the smallest room in the apartment, and literally could only fit the 2 actors and our director, Giles.
7.) Filming was constantly being interrupted by our downstairs neighbor playing loud music. Lindsey asked them to turn it down, which they did for about 10 minutes, then turned it back up.
8.) Joe was asked to wear a red shirt. The only red shirt he had was covered in paint, so the shirt he is wearing is actually inside-out.
9.) The wolf head on the wall was a prop in a play directed by Zach Stasz.
10.) Ben and Joe, who play brothers in the show, are actually cousins in real life.
11.) Episode 1 contains a sound effect of Donald's hand getting caught in a blender, which was created by dropping a bag of frozen pizza rolls into a blender.
12.) There is a shot of Ben on a toilet in this episode. Ben is actually naked during this shot, which was his idea.
13.) The owl in the corner of the room is named Hector. He appears in every episode.
